SYTAR = SYstem for Tracking, Administration and Routing.
SYTAR is a high-level computer based solution for maritime traffic monitoring applications. It is designed to detect, track, display and monitors vessel movements and activities in a subject area. SYTAR is based on sophisticated real-time software and an advanced computer networking architecture.
The system processes information from multiple sensors. Sensors can include radar, AIS transponders, radio direction finders, CCTV, Infrared or other low-light cameras, VHF radio, hydrographic instrumentation, and others.

Proprietary Intelligent Software Algorithms:
- Tracking Algorithms dynamically interpret sensor data to virtually eliminate problems of "track swapping", shadowing, localized weather distortions, lost tracks and similar conditions. These algorithms are programmed to individually manage each track even when sensor information is temporarily suspended, blocked or unable to discriminate between tracks. In effect they "understand" the movement characteristics of vessels and can largely eliminate the display of anomalous data.
- Correlation Algorithms continuously evaluate the quality of information from all tracking sensors (radar, transponders), for each vessel. Where multiple sensors are available the software selects the best quality information for tracking and dynamically re-evaluates this decision as the vessel moves through the area or is affected by weather or other factors.
- Filtering Algorithms greatly reduce the effects of wave clutter, and precipitation using standard FTC, STC and specially developed C-FAR filtering. This enables weak contacts to be reliably tracked even in extreme weather conditions. Search and Rescue operations are greatly enhanced.

Superimposed Radar Image:
- Multiple Radars covering the same area can be overlaid. The raw radar video information is shown from all radars covering the area. SYTAR automatically selects the best radar or transponder input for tracking. Even weak radar returns from multiple radars can be distinguished from random wave clutter. Systems that do not have this capability, are limited to a single radar for each area or to manual login to change between areas or radars. Variations in weather conditions and other factors can greatly affect radar coverage of an area. SYTAR can automatically fill-in lost coverage when these conditions occur, from other sensors that have coverage. In addition, SYTAR can also temporarily "coast" vessels if all sensor inputs are temporarily blocked.
- Individual Tuning of Areas: Often sensor coverage is not consistent throughout an area. As these areas are identified, SYTAR can be configured to provide enhanced response or to offset reflections or interference.
- Narrowband Raw Radar Video: SYTAR specially formats raw radar video into narrow-band digital information that can be transmitted over standard telephone lines. This data is also self-encrypted where security issues are of concern. The digitized information is a complete view of sensor input, not just tracks or plots.
