Sofrelog VTS systems are based on our unique SYTAR technology. SYTAR uses software to process sensor information, manage, correlate and display tracking functions.

Standard Networking Hardware: We use commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) PCI based hardware, as well as standard networking technology and protocols. This approach achieves low initial costs as well as low continuing spares and maintenance costs.

Flexible System Architecture: Our systems are designed around software functions rather than dedicated hardware. This approach result is system designs that can be very simple or complex according to requirements. The architectures shown at the right show considerable variation, however they are all based on the same technology.

Accommodates a Variety of Sensors: VTS systems employ a variety of sensors to provide information. We can accommodate existing sensors or provide new technology as appropriate. These include:

• Radar
• UAIS transponders, base stations
• Radio Direction Finders,
• Radio communications,
• Hydrographic and Meteorological,
• CCTV Cameras,

Intelligent Algorithms Improve Tracking Accuracy: Proprietary software algorithms substantially eliminate track swapping, track losses and similar errors. In less sophisticated system, operators spend much of their time correcting system tracking losses and errors.

Digitizing and clutter processing: Software functions convert radar sensor information into a stream of uniquely formatted digital data compatible with digital networking. Software functions then filter out wave and rain clutter using C-FAR and other techniques.

Reduced communications costs: Raw radar video information can be distributed over standard telephone lines. This is particularly important if you leasing wide band link services or are considering installing new microwave links.

Internet or Intranet Access Capability: Vessel tracking information and other data can be automatically distributed to port constituents via Web Pages, without direct contact to VTS operations. Password access maintains security.
